Writers in the Making: Learning from Published Authors NEW!
This dynamic writing course features a rotating team of experienced authors and instructors, including Lori Szepelak, Filomena Abys-Smith, Mark Holmes, Paul DeSclafani, Tammy Cope, and Barbara Scales. Each instructor will lead sessions focused on a specific writing genre, sharing practical guidance, personal insights, and techniques to help students develop confidence and success in their own writing journey.
Students will explore a variety of genres and styles. Filomena Abys-Smith specializes in memoir writing, Mark Holmes is published in historical memoirs, Paul DeSclafani writes science fiction, Tammy Cope focuses on inspirational writing and the power of prayer, and Barbara Scales writes poetry, ghostwritten memoirs, romance, and paranormal romance. Together, the instructors offer a broad range of expertise designed to inspire and support both beginning and aspiring writers.
Participants will receive a weekly course outline so they know what to expect from each session. Short writing exercises and assignments will encourage creativity and skill development, while classroom participation and discussion will foster a supportive learning environment. Students will also learn how to provide thoughtful, respectful feedback and constructive critique that strengthens both their own writing and that of their peers.
