ReadingPals Training: Share the Joy of Reading with Kindergarteners
Join the ReadingPals team as a reader to a kindergartener. There are 18 lower performing schools served by this program, all with different times so you choose the school that works best for your schedule. The schools served by this program span the county. Just one hour, twice a week with a team of volunteers, during the school day. Students who have been identified by the teacher as needing additional help with their basic literacy skills are matched with a Pal. In this one-on-one scenario you develop a strong relationship with the student while you are reading a book, asking some questions you are instilling the joy of reading. As a sample of the program, please view this information on our website (www.uwmc.org), under the impact category click on ReadingPals.
