Wines of the New World
A dramatic increase in the population of wine consumers worldwide, has led to substantial price increases for European wines, making them unaffordable for regular consumption by most American wine lovers. Fortunately, new world winemakers have kept their wines competitively priced and are delivering excellent value. This wine appreciation course will focus exclusively on new world wines made in the 5 key countries that comprise the “new world”:
1. USA
2. Argentina
3. Chile
4. Australia
5. New Zealand
Each of these wine producing countries make wines with unique qualities, and in each class we will explore the dynamics of a specific region with a combination of lecture followed by a tasting of about 6 – 8 wines that represent key grape varieties and wine styles of the region.
Class participants should bring a wine glass plus a note pad / pen.
Note: There is a $35 supply fee payable to the instructor the day of class to cover the cost of tasting wines.
This course will include a tasting of up to 6 1.5-ounce tastings of various wines. All registered participants are fully aware alcohol will be distributed in the classroom for possible consumption and will accept full responsibility for transportation to and from the classroom.
