Intro to Metalsmithing   

In this intensive, skills-based class, you will learn many jewelry-making techniques and how to use tools. Learn basic soldering that can be done with a simple kitchen creme brulee torch. Meet the jewelers’ saw, flex-shaft, and learn basic finishing techniques such as filing, sanding and polishing.

Practice adding textures and dimension to metals, forging with a hammer, as well as, gaining the proper  skills necessary for successful soldering. Students will work primarily with, copper, brass, and bronze, as well as a variety of semiprecious stones. The emphasis will be on skills-building and safety in the studio. This is a fun and fast-paced class. You will be amazed at what you will able to accomplish in this class. Learn to solder with a Creme Brulee torch, add textures using commonplace items, and learn about design elements all while creating jewelry.
