Intro to Metalsmithing   

Discover the techniques and tools used to create handcrafted jewelry in this intensive, skills based class. Participants will learn basic soldering, sawing, filing, sanding, polishing, texturing, forging, and design techniques while working primarily with copper, brass, bronze, and semiprecious stones.

Emphasis will be placed on building skills, proper tool use, and studio safety while creating original jewelry pieces. Learn to solder with a crème brûlée torch, add textures using commonplace items, and learn about design elements all while creating jewelry. For students who prefer to work with precious metals, silver will be available for purchase at market value.
