Intro to Metalsmithing   

In this intensive skills-based class, you will be introduced to many jewelry making techniques and tools.  Learn basic soldering that can be done with a simple kitchen creme brulee torch. Meet the jewelers’ saw, flex-shaft, and learn basic finishing techniques such as filing, sanding and polishing. Practice adding textures to metals, forging with a hammer, as well as, learning the basic elements needed for successful soldering. Students will work with sterling silver, copper, brass, bronze and a  variety of semiprecious stones. The emphasis will be on skills-building and safety in the studio.

For safety: Please wear cotton clothing, no loose-fitting clothes. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Long hair must be  pulled back.
