Songwriting Made Simple
This course is for an individual with little or no music training. It's organized around the steps of writing a song. Participants will create a song lyric and music. Basic software (free) will be used to create the music, so an instrument is not necessary. If they desire, they will also be able to record their song.
Session 1 – 3 hours – Writing Song Lyrics: 1.1 – Popular song structure, 1.2 – Basic song templates, 1.3 – Brainstorming lyrics, 1.4 – Rhyming resources, 1.5 – Writing your first lyrically
Session 2 – 2 hours – Creating Backing Tracks: 1.1 – Chord progressions, 1.2 – Using chord progression charts, 1.3 – Software Support, 1.3.1 – 4 Chord Songs (Open Source- Win Only), 1.3.2 – ChordPlus ($29.00 – Win Only), 1.3.3 – Band In A Box ($129.00 – Win/Mac)
Session 3 – 3 hours – Creating Your Song: 1.1 – Song presentation to class, 1.2 – Song performance and recording
