Why Do Pirates Say ARRR?: A History of The History of Pirates    NEW!

Everyone loves a good pirate story and we all know the classic elements: buried treasure, the pirates' code and the all-essential "Arrr!" How much do such standards in pirate story-telling have in the original history of pirates and how did these stories develop into how we understand pirates today? This course will examine the history of pirates in the Caribbean and trace the history of how tales of infamous pirates have been told and developed across the years. From the 17th to the 21st centuries, we will have a swashbuckling adventure exploring the fiction, and surprising facts, of these legendary characters and their timeless adventures on the high seas.
