In this fun and fast paced class, students will create beautiful pieces of jewelry in amazing colors. Niobium is a lightweight and hypoallergenic metal that can be easily anodized with electricity. Demonstrations will also be done with batteries, so that students will be able to accomplish anodizing at home. There will be an emphasis on safety for all processes. Bring home the colors.
Day One: Students will learn about the properties of niobium and some of the unique characteristics to keep in mind when working with this material. Students will conceptualize and problem-solve their designs. Next they will form and finish each piece. All textures and dimension will be added, edges will be filed and sanded, holes will be added.
Day Two: Complete all steps necessary in preparation to the final step of anodizing. All necessary findings and connections will be finished and ready to be anodized. Pieces will be tumbled in preparation for anodizing.
Day Three: Demonstrations of anodizing will be given and color charts will be available to guide you in your addition of color to your pieces. Students will have time to practice on scrap pieces before moving onto finishing their own creations. Finally, students will use a power source to anodize their pieces in the colors they choose and assemble their finished pieces of jewelry. Your finished pieces can be worn home that same day.

Fold-forming is a technique of metalworking in which metal is folded and forged into
fascinating 3-dimensional forms. Throughout this process the metal is stretched by the
hammer blows and as new folds are added, fluid and three-dimensional forms are created.
Come and learn how to add dimension and interest as you create using hammers, torches and imagination. Create Jewelry and sculptural pieces. In this exciting class, students will learn the principles of fold-forming, a process that was developed by Charles Lewton Brain. Students will learn how to fold metal, selectively hammer, anneal and unfold to create 3 dimensional forms. Through repetition and innovation, the sky really is the limit. Students will be working with thin sheets of copper; however, these skills are easily transferred to silver or even gold.

In this class, students will forge a sleek and simple bracelet in a heavy metal wire. Learn how to use the hammer to thin and stretch your wire. In addition, you will learn the process for annealing work-hardened metal. Forming, filing and finishing will be demonstrated. This class will focus on correct tool usage and safety in the studio.

Create a charming Christmas tree pendant in one piece of copper using just a couple of folds. Then decorate it with ornaments, colorful beads and garland to make it shine. Finally place your star on top with your bail and your tree is ready to decorate your wardrobe over the holiday season.
This class is open to beginning or returning students.This is a really fun project and the result is so worth it! Making the tree is a breeze, but if you ever decorated a tree before, you know that that is where the fun starts. Add as few or as many decorations as you like. You will love your pendant.
