Classes center on techniques using solid materials that are shaped or carved by hand or with hand tools.

Sculpt What You Feel

Sculpt What You Feel is a hands-on, right-brain/left-brain introduction to self-expression through the Art & Craft of Sculpting. Create beautiful sculptures while learning to express yourself three-dimensionally through:

A) Modeling in soft materials such as earth clays, self-hardening resin clays, non-hardening plasticine clays, or microcrystalline wax.
B) Carving in softer materials like styrofoam, balsa wood, soapstone, alabaster, gypsum, hardened wax, or hardened earth clay—all in various hardnesses.

All sculpting will be done using filing and sanding—no hammers or chisels. Attendance at the first class is mandatory.

Important: Students will be responsible for purchasing their own materials after the first class, once they have selected their project. Material costs will range from $20-$40, depending on their choices. Options include plasteline clay, water-based clay, self-hardening clays, or microcrystalline wax.  Additionally, each student will need to purchase a 1 ft. square x ¾” thick melamine board to work on, which will be provided by the instructor at a cost of $2 per board.

Mold Making, Casting and Faux Finishing for Sculpture Reproduction, Product Development, Etc. NEW!

Learn how to mold, cast, and faux finish just about any three dimensional object. Including how to enlarge or shrink objects via mold making reproduction. Plus safe ways to quickly mold and cast body parts, like face and hands.

We’ll be using rubber mold products, gypsum cements, fiberglass, wax, resins, etc. - over soft or hard clays or solid objects. Then learn how to create faux finishes so your product looks like it's made of something other than what it actually is, for fun, practicality, and profit - where applicable.

Note: There is a materials fee that will range from $10 to over $100, depending on the project chosen by the student. This fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.
