Just like you work to stay physically healthy, its important to work to keep your mind sharp. But when it comes to brain work, it doesn't have to be all work and no play. Your brain actually benefits and is stimulated, when you're playing and having fun. Enroll in this class and give your brain a workout by playing fun games that sharpen your mind.
Learn the basics of playing chess. We will start with the objective of the game and then delve into the details of how to play. Next we will break out into groups of two and jump right into playing actual games. Chess boards and pieces will be provided. Guidance will be available as needed.
Solving puzzles provides a great way to exercise your brain. You may think of Sudoku as a crossword puzzle with numbers. In this introductory course you will learn a logical and systematic approach to filling in the squares, even for some difficult puzzles. Then the class will have fun jointly completing a Sudoku that is projected on a white board. Remember to bring your thinking cap!
Maybe you're already familiar with Bridge, but want to brush up on your bidding & playing skills? This class is for you! This course will put more focus on bidding and scoring strategies, cue-bidding, artificial conventions, playing no-trump bids effectively, and much more!
If you are already acquainted with Canasta, Hand and Foot offers an exciting alternative. In this course, we'll begin by covering the fundamental terms and Rules of Play to ensure everyone is on the same page. Once we have the basics down, we'll form groups of four participants and delve into playing the game. To participate, please bring along five decks of shuffled cards, complete with Jokers included. All other supplies will be provided. It's an excellent opportunity to expand your card game repertoire and enjoy an engaging social activity.
