Florida has over 72 rivers and over 50,000 miles of rivers and streams. These ecosystems can provide significant recreational enjoyment to residents and visitors. However, they can also cause concerns for residents due to flooding, pests, weeds, snakes and environmental changes. Rivers provide important habitat that is monitored for nutrient pollution and water quality which is often impacted by nearby urbanization.
