Learn about the history and beauty of Ocala's best kept secret. Walk along with Managing Director Robert Colen, and Park Manager Brian DeVane, as they share how it all began and show you a "peace" of Sholom in this interactive Walk and Talk experience. Understanding Construction Tour: Manning Building Supplies Truss Factory and Door Shop

Trusses are the structural component of the house that provide the framework for the roofing system.

In this class, we will visit the Manning Building Supplies Truss Plant here in Ocala to see the manufacturing process first-hand. We will learn how trusses are designed and assembled.

Closed toe shoes are required. The environment is loud and partially outdoors. Meeting location: Manning Building Supplies Inc 2200 NE 25th Ave, Ocala, FL 34470, United States.

Explore the Enchanted Forest, Fragrance Trail, Food Forest, and a behind the scenes look at how the park is operated with Managing Director, Robert Colen and Park Manager, Brian DeVane in Part Two of Sholom Park's Walk and Talk. Registered students will meet at the pavilion near the restrooms.

Exploring The Ecology of Silver Springs State Park

Enjoy a morning at Silver Springs State Park learning about the natural and cultural/historical resources of the area. Group will meet at the archway (main entrance off Rt 40) by no later than 9 a.m. Participants will spend the morning with a Park Ranger to learn about the importance of the Silver River, starting near the head spring.
After a Glass Bottom Boat tour, they will walk along the Ross Allen Boardwalk and Blue Trail to take a tram ride (uncushioned) through the Sandhill Natural Community, with the last stop at the Silver River Museum. After the museum, they will tram back to the main entrance. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and must be able to walk at least one mile, some on uneven ground.

Cost includes: park ranger tour, glass bottom boat ride, and tram ride. Students will drive to the location and meet at the Entry Arch to Silver Springs State Park by no later than 9 a.m. using the following address: 5656 East Silver Springs Blvd, Silver Springs FL 34488

Bay Laurel Water: Behind-the-Scenes Field Trip

Water is a valued commodity, especially here in Florida. Learn more about the complexities of water procurement here at On Top of the World as well as water treatment and waste water disposal. Join staff on this behind-the-scenes tour of our facilities. Limited to 13 students; registration is required. The bus leaves at 9:00 AM but you need to check in first at Master the Possibilities Education Center (please bring drinking water).
