In this class, students will learn to use the free searchable databases the site has to offer from locations around the world. Other site features will be covered as well such as the catalog, digitized family and local history books, and the exceptional instructional material the site contains. All students may bring their own laptop to class (Mac or Windows), as this is a hands-on course. Windows 10 laptops are available in the lab, if needed.
This workshop will examine several ways your DNA results can help to expand your knowledge of your ancestors, learn more about missing ancestors, and even meet some distant cousins. Topics to be covered include sharing DNA results with other testing companies, linking the results to an online family tree, and identifying which distant cousins might have useful information.
The student will be introduced to the basic research charts, how to use them properly, how and where to begin their research, how to organize the results, and how to share their research with others (possible projects). This class is by presentation and handouts; no computers or tablets are required.
In this class, you will learn how to start your tree, determine privacy settings, add and edit your facts, locate new information, add and link media, print your tree, and more. Students should bring some family information and their own fully charged laptop (Windows or Mac), and they must know their Ancestry username and password. Windows 10 laptops are available in the lab if needed.

You will learn how this happens environmentally and genetically in my presentation, and how our personal history and the times our families grew up in impact all subsequent generations. You will then use a personal genogram to diagram and decipher how three generations of your family history have impacted your in your life. You will document the individuals in your family system, their stories, experiences, heartaches and successes. Come explore how this has impacted you, and what you can do to help yourself heal from family wounds, and pass down family treasures.
