Artist Tina Carchia will be teaching an ink with watercolors class. She uses ink to bring out all of the details and then goes over it with watercolors to add in the color and shading. Unlike oil paint, which dries very slowly, watercolor is a quick drying paint. A traceable pattern is provided so there is no sketching or drawing. Tina will take you at an easy to follow pace, all the way through to a completed project in only four hours! The use of all supplies and an 11"X14" mat are included. Wearing old clothing is suggested. This painting project will be on display in the MTP office a month in advance of this class.

This four-day workshop is designed for advanced artists with a solid foundation in watercolor who want to elevate their skies to the next level. Students will learn how to paint atmospheric clouds with emotion, movement, and subtlety using techniques such as layered washes, wet-into-wet blending, and edge control. The class will explore color mixing for expressive skies, soft and hard edge transitions, glazing for depth and mood, and capturing light, shadow, and atmospheric perspective. Compositional placement of clouds within landscapes will also be covered. Elena will share her personal approach to painting realistic, fluffy clouds using a wet-on-wet method developed through years of experience. Students will complete multiple sky studies and one finished piece, with demonstrations and individual feedback provided throughout.
